Since deciding to illustrate my next comic project, THE DEVIL’S TONGUE, I’ve been dealing with fear of failing. I’m not a devoted artist because I enjoy the process of writing so much more. Because of this, I find myself fighting to set myself down in front of my table to draw.
I realized I couldn’t let this fear hold me back from putting forth an honest effort so I’ve been reading articles and books on how to deal with fears. Of everything I’ve read so far, UNCERTAINTY has been the biggest help.
Author Jonathan Fields’ easy to grasp solutions to the most common feelings and tricks fear plays on you lays a foundation which anyone can use to manage their fear. No one can rid themselves of their fears. They can, however, be contained to the point where you can proceed with whatever it is you are wanting to do. And this book has shown me how to do that with solutions which make sense and most importantly work.
I can’t recommend this book enough to anyone who faces a fear regarding a creative endeavour. Whether it is fear of failure, fear of not being good enough, fear of whatever- UNCERTAINTY guides you through that mire of doubt and insecurity to a place where you realize your fear can be managed, allowing you to produce the work you want without hesitation.
